FAQS

When you purchase a Birdies Villa or smaller model, you are purchasing hundreds of hours of work and research that have gone into developing a product of unparalleled quality.

  • If you live in a condominium, you can suggest installing a Birdies Villa to your property manager and neighbours so that it can be discussed at the building’s general meeting.
The cost will be divided among the number of co-owners, and you can enjoy it every day.
  • If you have a private garden, you can refer a friend, school, hotel, architect, property developer, town hall or any other establishment that may be interested in a Birdies Villa. We offer you 10% off your personal quote for each referral.
If you refer 5 people who confirm their quote, your quote will be halved. If 10 people contact us on your behalf and confirm their quote, your Birdies Villa and its installation will be free of charge! This offer is only valid for the large Birdies Villa model.
  • You can also choose to rent your Birdies Villa for an unlimited period (we require a minimum commitment of 3 years).
A monthly payment will be debited from your account and you will have the choice of returning the Birdies Villa to us or buying it back at the end of the 3-year rental period at the purchase price (from which the installation fee previously paid and all monthly payments will be deducted).
You can also continue your subscription and order maintenance from us from the 5th year of rental onwards if you wish.

The 17 rooms in your Birdies Villa will certainly not all be occupied at the same time!
Birds of the same species cannot live close to each other, except for some species such as house sparrows or tree sparrows, which may occupy rooms 1, 3, 4, 5, 7 and 9 of your Birdies Villa together if they wish. Swallows also live together but build their own nests, usually under a roof.
However, it is not impossible for families of different species to nest nearby. We observed a blue tit and a great tit occupying two different but very close rooms in a Birdies Villa during the same winter. The creation of their nests was certified by a bailiff, whose report is available on the website’s home page.
Whatever happens, birds will take turns nesting in your Birdies Villa, season after season. Birds that feel comfortable in a nesting box may return every year!

For the past four years, we have conducted numerous interviews and are pleased to discover that in 90% of cases, Birdies Villas have been inhabited by several families throughout the year. Each autumn, we remove between one and seven nests per villa, all of which have taken on the square shape of the hotel rooms.
Even our display model, which is exposed to the sun all day long and installed in front of our workshop on the edge of one of France’s most important national roads, is home to two nests every year!

You can be sure that everyone will be there for mealtimes! And there’s guaranteed to be a show around the feeders!

Bird droppings are very rare at Birdies Villas. Rest assured that this will never be a problem, as the roofs have a 45° slope and their smooth, waterproof surface allows rain to clean them effectively at all times. This means that any residue will be quickly removed, ensuring a spotless appearance.

Birds need peace and quiet to feel safe and choose a room in your Birdies Villa. But you also need to be able to enjoy your birdhouse.
Choose a location that is as far away as possible from your daily routine, but still visible from where you live.

It is generally advisable to place a birdhouse so that the entrance hole faces away from the prevailing winds.
An east or south-east orientation is recommended! But as the Birdies Villa is accessible from all four sides, the question of orientation does not really arise. However, you should avoid placing it in the middle of a draughty area or in a location that is constantly exposed to the sun. The best compromise is to place it near a tree, but far enough away from branches that could serve as a bridge for a cat to access it!

After filling the feeders at your Birdies Villa for the first time, the birds will understand your intentions and will be waiting for you when the feeders need refilling. They will get used to your visits, but it will be up to you to determine, as the seasons change, whether your visits are too frequent. The birds may be reluctant to occupy a room if the feeders are filled too often and all the birds in the garden are having a party on the ground floor!

Maintaining your Birdies Villa is quite simple; it is not mandatory, but the more care you take of it, the more likely you are to see birds occupying it. At least one cleaning per year is necessary to ensure the premises are kept clean. When filling the feeders, a quick wipe with a sponge at the same time will be perfect for keeping the courtyard of your Birdies Villa welcoming.
We will provide you with a maintenance guide with recommended maintenance schedules.

All our nesting boxes are manufactured in the same way, using the same materials. We have chosen Douglas fir because it is naturally rot-proof and resistant to mould, weathering and wood-eating insects. The various finishes we offer enhance the wood’s durability and can be reapplied many times throughout the life of your nesting box. If necessary, the roofs can be replaced as they are not glued to the structure of the birdhouse. The few screws and metal plates are made of stainless steel, preventing rust.
The attachment of your birdhouse to the ground on its post is also designed to last for several decades.

We cannot give you a precise lifespan for your Birdies Villa, but we can guarantee that you are investing in a sustainable habitat, designed to remain in place when others have already reached their limits.

It is possible, but it is best to choose your location carefully before the initial installation to avoid having to move it in the future.
We will have to dismantle your Birdies Villa, remove the ground anchoring system and start the installation process all over again, with all the associated costs.

The Birdies Villa was not designed to offer aperitifs to our feline friends. The base of the birdhouse is made of smooth 45° sloping sides, making it impossible to climb. We have, of course, tested it with several cats, who did not even bother to try to climb it and therefore ignore the presence of the villa, which has become a natural part of their territory without them paying any more attention to it than that. Cats, unable to climb the post, focus their hunting instincts on other numerous and accessible places in nature.
If you have named your cat MacGyver, we can also offer you a system of sliding plates to be installed high up on all four sides of the post, making it absolutely impossible to access the birdhouse. You can also plant rose bushes at the foot of the post, as your cat will not risk falling into them!
If your birdhouse is suspended, this is obviously not an issue.

You can, of course, provide cat or dog hair or any other natural product such as nesting material, but this must be placed outside the rooms. Birds build their own nests and prefer to choose the twigs they will use to make them. We can provide you with a nesting material dispenser to place on the Birdies Villa so that the birds can help themselves. Alternatively, you can make one yourself using a spring from an old bed, for example.
