General FAQ

Yes. The Birdies Villa brand has been legally protected since March 2022, along with the manufacturing process and the precise design of the birdhouse.

When you purchase a Birdies Villa (or a smaller version of it), you are investing in hundreds of hours of research and craftsmanship that resulted in a product of truly exceptional quality.

Several solutions are available:

  • Shared ownership: If you live in a condominium or shared property, you can propose the installation to your property manager and neighbors during a general meeting. The cost is shared, and everyone gets to enjoy it every day.

  • Referral program: If you refer a friend, a school, a company, or any other person or organization that validates a quotation, you receive 10% off your own quote per validated referral.
For example, 5 validated referrals cut your quote in half. With 10 validated referrals, your Birdies Villa and its installation may be fully offered.
(Offer valid for the large Birdies Villa model only.)

  • Rental: You may also choose to rent your Birdies Villa for an unlimited duration (minimum commitment: 3 years). A monthly fee is charged. After the initial 3 years, you can either continue the subscription or purchase the birdhouse at a reduced price, deducting both the paid monthly fees and the installation cost already covered. Maintenance can also be requested starting from the 5th year of rental.

You can meet us at trade shows to get a closer look at our birdhouses.
If you would like to see a Birdies Villa installed outdoors, you can request it via the contact form. We will provide you with the nearest location—either a public site or a private one, subject to the owner’s prior consent.

The 17 rooms of a Birdies Villa will never all be occupied at the same time, and this is perfectly normal.

In general, birds of the same species do not nest in immediate proximity to one another.
However, there are exceptions, such as:

  • House sparrows and tree sparrows, which may coexist and simultaneously occupy certain rooms of the Birdies Villa (notably rooms no. 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, and 9), if they choose to do so.

  • Swallows, which also coexist, although they build their own nests, most often under roof overhangs.

It is, however, quite common for different species to nest very close to one another.
For example, we observed a blue tit and a great tit occupying two distinct but very close rooms within the same Birdies Villa during the same winter. This situation was officially documented by a judicial officer (bailiff) through a dated and photographed report, objectively certifying the simultaneous presence of both nests.
This official report is available on the homepage of the website.

In any case, birds will use your Birdies Villa in turns, season after season.
When they feel comfortable, they often return to nest year after year.

For the past 4 years, through numerous maintenance visits, we have observed that in approximately 90% of cases, Birdies Villas were inhabited by several bird families within the same year.
Each autumn, we remove between 1 and 7 nests per Villa, all of which have perfectly adapted to the square shape of the hotel rooms.

Even our display model—installed in full sun, directly in front of our workshop and alongside one of the busiest national roads in France—hosts two nestings every year.

Rest assured: everyone gathers at the feeders, and the show is always there.

After a few refills, birds usually become accustomed to your presence. However, refilling too frequently may also make them less inclined to nest. Observe their behavior over the seasons and adjust your visits accordingly.

Maintaining your Birdies Villa is quite simple. While not mandatory, the more care you take of it, the higher the chances birds will choose to nest there. An annual cleaning is recommended to keep the Villa welcoming.
When refilling the feeders, a quick wipe with a sponge at the same time is perfect for keeping the central courtyard clean and inviting.

We provide a maintenance guide with recommended intervention periods.

Nous vous fournirons une notice d’entretien avec les périodes d’interventions conseillées.

All our birdhouses are built the same way, using the same materials. We selected Douglas pine because it is naturally rot-resistant and highly resistant to mold, weather conditions, and wood-boring insects.
The different finishes we offer further extend the lifespan of the wood and can be reapplied many times throughout the life of your birdhouse.

If needed, the roofs can be replaced, as they are not glued to the structure.
The few screws and metal plates used are made of stainless steel, preventing any rust.
The ground anchoring system of the Villa model (on its pole) is also designed to last for several decades.

While we cannot give an exact lifespan, we can guarantee that you are investing in a durable habitat, designed to remain in place far longer than standard products available on the market.

Droppings are very rare thanks to the 45° roof inclination. Their smooth, waterproof surface allows rain to clean them continuously. Any residue is quickly washed away, ensuring a consistently pristine appearance.

You may of course provide cat hair, dog hair, or any other natural nesting material such as nesting fiber—but it must be placed outside the rooms. Birds build their nests themselves and prefer to select the twigs and materials they need.

We can offer a nesting material dispenser to attach to the Birdies Villa so birds can help themselves. Alternatively, you can make one yourself using, for example, the spring from an old mattress.

FAQ – VILLA Model (Pole-mounted birdhouse, installed by Birdies Villa)

Birds need peace and quiet to choose a room. The ideal location is slightly away from daily foot traffic while remaining visible from your living area.

Regarding orientation:

  • East or South-East orientation is generally recommended for birdhouses, but since the Birdies Villa is accessible from all four sides, orientation is not a major concern.

  • Avoid constant direct sunlight and drafty areas.

  • A nearby tree is a plus, provided it does not give cats easy access.

Yes, it is possible, but choosing the right location from the start is strongly recommended to avoid future intervention.
If relocation is necessary, the Villa must be dismantled, the anchoring system removed, and then reinstalled, which will incur additional costs.

The Birdies Villa was designed to limit cat access: its 45° slanted façades make climbing very difficult. In many homes, even curious cats quickly give up.
You can also plant rose bushes at the base of the pole—your cat won’t risk falling into them!

FAQ - VILLAGE Model (Wall-mounted birdhouse, delivered & self-installed)

The VILLAGE model is a wall-mounted Birdies Villa birdhouse designed for customer installation. It is delivered by a carrier with insurance covering its full value and reflects the same artisanal craftsmanship as the VILLA.
(Made to order — no stock.)

No. As it is made to order, the VILLAGE model is not subject to the right of withdrawal, in accordance with the product’s Terms and Conditions.

Delivery is handled by a carrier with mandatory insurance covering the real value of the birdhouse. Upon receipt, it is essential to check the condition of the package and make any necessary reservations immediately.

The main base is delivered assembled. After wall mounting, the customer installs the remaining modules (rooms) and then the roofs. This allows for safe installation at height without handling an excessively heavy fully assembled unit.

Birds need tranquility to choose a room. The ideal location is slightly away from daily foot traffic while remaining visible from your living space.

Regarding orientation:

  • Place the entrance holes opposite prevailing winds, generally East or South-East.

  • Avoid constant direct sunlight and drafty areas.
